MEET IDA KEELING
A 100 YEAR OLD AMERICAN ATHLETE WHO SET A WORLD RECORD AT AGE 92 RUNNING THE 60 METER DASH AT THE WORLD MASTERS GAMES IN CLERMONT-FERRAND, FRANCE.
THEREAFTER, ON FEBRUARY 16, 2011 AT THE AGE OF 95, SET ANOTHER WORLD RECORD, SHAVING A FULL TWO SECONDS OFF HER PREVIOUS RECORD.
MOST RECENTLY, ON APRIL 30, 2016 JUST TWO WEEKS BEFORE HER 101ST BIRTHDAY, SET ANOTHER WORLD RECORD AT THE PENN RELAYS FOR WOMEN 100-104 IN THE 100 METER DASH.
THE STORY OF IDA KEELING IS A STORY OF BUILDING A MOUNTAIN FROM ASHES. Touched by tragedy after the brutal and violent murders of both of her sons in a three year period, Ida began running at the age of 67 at the insistence of her daughter as a way to lower her pressure and manage her sadness and loss. The next 28 years would result in a series of trophies and medals from both road races and track.
